You can't make this stuff up.  Particularly when the customer shows you the x-ray (Okay, we didn't have the real x-ray, but the story is true).  Brent, our Barrie locksmith was in Innisfil this week helping out a customer who lost their only set of keys.  This key is a remote head key, which means it can control a variety of other options from the head of the key; unlock and lock doors, trunk release and a panic button.  Do not try and buy random keys online.  You never know where they are sourced from and in many cases they never program properly.  You are best to get the right advice and service from a trained and certified locksmith.

Brent had to decode the ignition to be able to cut the key and then use a programmer to "pair" the chip inside the key to the onboard computer in the vehicle.  Our Pop-A-Lock locksmiths have most general replacement keys and fobs in inventory in their mobile vans.  If we don't, we can usually get one in the next 1-2 days.  If you need a locksmith to make a new key, ask about getting a duplicate key to have on hand. You never know when your only get can get damaged, lost or stolen.  Always good to have "key insurance", a back up key stored safely in the house.  Well, we hope that there is a "happy ending" to this story, if you know what I mean.

Happy Motoring !!
